Content rules and moderation
Last updated: 25 October 2026
The rules
QR codes on Qwirl must not show or link to:
- sexual or adult content;
- hateful, harassing, violent or otherwise offensive content;
- scams, phishing, malware or anything illegal.
The full rules are in the Terms.
Automatic checks
Qwirl checks names, texts, links and images when you save them. If something looks wrong, the QR code goes in review: it stays active, but scans show "being reviewed" until an admin decides. You can still see and edit everything.
Some checks may use AI moderation services. They only give an opinion: Qwirl decides by its own rules, and an admin always makes the final call.
Admin decision
- Accepted: scans show the content again.
- Rejected: the content is removed and counts as a strike. Rejecting a whole code also disables it.
You get an email either way.
Reports and strikes
Anyone can report a QR code from the Report link on its scan page (with a quick automatic check against robots). Each report from a different person counts as a strike, unless an admin dismisses it.
3 strikes in 90 days disable the code automatically. You get an email explaining why.
Appeals
If you think a decision is wrong, open the QR code and choose Appeal. Tell us why in a few sentences. An admin reviews it and you get an email with the answer. An accepted appeal turns the code back on and resets its strikes.
